The last of my prevacation updates.. :) well, at least those with photos available.. haha.
this was, one weekend during psych posting when we had the opportunity to go prawning.. it was quite an interesting experience since i had never fished for anything before.. and i guess one would not expect me to have the patience to either.. ;) so anyway, these are the bait, tiny pieces of chopped up chicken. i can't imagine why prawns would eat chicken though!so, it was quite sian initially since we were not really v pro, or rather, even the least bit experienced in fishing. so we had not caught a single thing in 1.5h! we watched on as certain persons around the pond caught damn a lot of prawns. we, being quite distressed that we wun even have 1 prawn to split among the 4 of us, decided to ask for help, esp since the super pro couple were leaving. they looked rather amusedly at us, and offered us their fresh fish as bait. by fresh, i actually mean live fish swimming around in a tub! we had to grab and slice up those little fishes.. tt was one step closer to getting a prawn. along came this middle aged uncle, who tried to boast to evange after hearing my conversation with her about getting one prawn in the next 0.5h so that we would have something to show for our time here. he then told her it was gonna be so easy to do tt, and tt he would sell us 10 prawns for 10cents. well, obviously evange thought he was full of crap, esp since he hadn't caught anything yet.
but we kept our spot cuz it was a good spot at the pond according to everyone.
after a while, the uncle saw aud, and pounced on her! wooo, but it was good. he imparted his kung fu to aud, and she started to catch prawns! wow! we were so excited when aud finally caught our v first prawn!!a momentous occasion - the result of much tender and patient teaching.. ;)
yes, so we actually managed to catch about 8 prawns in the end.. and we started barbequing them. well, to start the fire was immensely difficult. the charcoal they gave is really bad.. and i went thru 3 paper plates before i could get any sort of fire going.
but look, our number of prawns increased! yes, the uncle was afarid tt aud wun have enough to eat, and he gave us like damn a lot of prawns.. i think more than 10! we were so happy.. lol.
the prawns were really good. we just salted and grilled, but they tasted so good! i think its just mainly cuz they were HUGE ASS and fresh.. :D
after our tiring and long escapade at the farm, we were so thirsty.. so we ended our long night at mac's.. :)
this was, a dinner with my jc classmates.. some of whom are back! we went to this lil cafe tt i found online and decided that we should try - Cafe Oliv.
the decoration of the place is rather interesting, and i quite like their wall paper!
aaron, yx and claire just shared some starters and this thing, which i seem to have forgetten what its called. well, its like a pizza, except it has stuffing between 2 crusts. this was quite good if i recalled..
and the other starters.. all fried up!
my main course.. the lamb.. it was HUGE! seriously.. and not bad. i mean its so long ago, i can't quite remember, but it was really huge for the price i paid.. it was definitely v soft.. ;)
and the desserts tt came w the sets.. the brownie and the creme brulee.. i think the creme brulee was better.. and it was not bad, considering tt it was part of a meal and all..
after tt, since we were near my place, michelle of course had to go buy cheng teng. yes, but this time, in addition to cheng teng, we went to this ice cream place opposite, Ice Cream Gallarie i think its called, and we had quite good and interesting ice cream. there was 1 scoop of teh hallia left (ginger tea) i think.. and mich was like i want it, and took it. yx was devasted.. but the woman was v nice.. after a while she scooped up half a scoop of what was left and just gave it to her! :D apparently, there are many other flavours tt were not available anymore cuz we went on a sunday night and over the weekend, they were all bought up! i've to try the bailey's, irish cream, and rum and raisin, sea salt and roasted almonds.. etc. the rum and raisins are apparently, really good.. :)
after a really amusing mahjong game (where mich tricked poor claire who doesn't know how to really play, who was taking over yx who had to answer a phone call), we called it a day. it was quite a fun and amusing night, and even though we hadn't seen each other for half/one year depending on the person.. it really felt as though lil time had passed. we were still the same despite the v different lives we were leading now. its really nice to know tt in the end, we are still great friends.. :)
last post now.. post exams.. mich's bday at carousel. we went down for hi-tea, which was quite a disappointment i must say. it was cheaper than lunch, and the variety was not bad, but all the food were fried, and in general, not tt gd!
the place was decorated quite well, and the desserts were quite good though. yeah, i didn't take pix of the food in general cuz i just wasn't too impressed..
hmmm, i dunno y mich isn't sitting down.. it looks like mine or claire's bday instead. haha
and this pix of aud.. she looks like she has those bushy bear fur hats on!
well, so this was basically prevacation days, well together with mahjong and tennis. yes, we've been playing a lot of mahjong lately, and i am quite pleased tt i have been able to cover cost in general.. ;) so yeah.. hope this good fortune continues.. ;)
